James N. Dicks joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1977. Mr. Dicks served as a police officer and detective for 10 years. He was assigned to duties such DUI patrol, narcotic enforcement, vice enforcement, and undercover duties. While a police officer he attended Western State University College of Law and graduated in 1987. That same year, he took the California State Bar Examination and passed on his first attempt. Attorney Dicks joined the County Public Defender’s Office in 1987 and tried numerous cases obtaining astonishing results. After 5 years in practice, attorney Mr. Dicks became a Certified Criminal Law Specialist by the California Board of Legal Specialization. In 1990, Attorney Dicks founded jD LAW, P.C., which has now grown to include two offices, one in North County and one in San Diego County, a staff of paralegals, investigators, case managers, and other support personnel.
